Self Acceptance (3/13/26)

This week, we’ve turned inward—because the unexamined life isn’t worth living.
Exploring the Stoic Principle: Self-Examination
Marcus Aurelius ended each day asking: “What did I do well? What did I do poorly? What can I improve?” Ruthless honesty fuels growth.
What is measured also grows, and it is difficult to trick data. Keep a journal to rate how your day went. Focus on how to fix the bad and enhance the good things in your life. The data will keep you honest, and your consistency will help you improve.
Unpacking the Scripture: 2 Corinthians 13:5
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves.” Paul calls for spiritual inventory—not guilt, but alignment.
Another way to examine this is to think of Jesus saying, “If you’re mine, you’ll see evidence - love, patience, forgiveness - not perfection, but rather direction.” It is more about spotting the fruit that grows from the vine of our church than it is about passing some type of test.
The Deep Connection
Stoics examine to refine character; believers to renew faith. Both demand courage. The Stoic asks, “Am I virtuous?” The Christian asks, “Am I His?” Honesty + humility = transformation.
Action Steps for the Week Ahead
Evening Review: 3 questions: What went well? What didn’t? What’s next?
Faith Check: Ask, “Is my life showing Jesus?” Write one evidence.
Confess & Correct: Admit one flaw. Take one step to fix it.
Encouragement for Your Journey
Reflection isn’t judgment—it’s justice to your future self. You’re not failing; you’re fine-tuning. Every honest look in the mirror moves you forward. You’re growing.
Stay Tuned
Next week: “Trust: Accepting Fate (Stoic) & Trusting God’s Provision (Matthew 6:26)”—because worry is a waste.
With clarity,
